Policies

Classes from August to February focus on pure technique and skills and the rest of the season on choreography and performance for year-end recital. These components make a complete and well rounded dance education and experience.

ATTENDANCE: Regular class attendance is essential for progress in dance education. Please have your dancer arrive to class 15 minutes early so that they are warmed up. Too many absences may require a change in class level.

CANCELLATION: Parents/Guardians will be notified of any planned cancellations. There will be make-up classes scheduled for classes cancelled for emergencies. Severe weather closings will be posted on the home page website or an announcement on parent portal.

ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE: Students must be dressed properly and ready to enter the classroom on time. If a student is more than 15 minutes late she will  be expected to observe the class and  take dance notes. Please notify us if someone other than a parent/guardian will pick-up a child. No child is allowed to wait outside.

LATE PICK-UPS: Due to security and staffing concerns there will be a fee if a parent/guardian is more than 15 minutes late to pick-up their dancer.

Arrive 15 to 30 minutes late     5.00 fee

Arrive 45 minutes late             10.00 fee

Arrive 1 hour late                     15.00 fee

Payments increases $5.00 each 5 minutes

Payment will be billed to dance account

CLASSROOM ETIQUETTE:

  • No cellphones allowed in the classroom. If dancer brings cell phone the studio will not be responsible if lost or stolen

  • No food or drinks allowed. Water bottles only allowed.

  • No parents allowed to observe unless approved by studio owner or instructor prior to class.

ballet

Classical ballet aims to create graceful patterns and involves rigorous training. It is the fundamental technique for all classes. Dancers are strongly encouraged to take ballet with other techniques.

Pointe work in classical ballet is formalized by pointe technique. It is performed in pointe shoes. Pointe technique means that ballet dancer performs on the tips of fully extended feet and in this way ballet dancer supports all body weight.

Ballet dancer must have great strength and good technique to be able to do pointe work. Dancers have to dance for a few years before they can start practice pointe technique.

Movements of tap are concentrated in your feet and ankles. Wearing shoes with metal taps, you tap out the rhythm of the music

jazz

This style employs isolations of the body. The movements are technical and full bodied with the use of flexibility implemented in leaps and extensions. Musical theatre, contemporary jazz, jazz fusion, commercial jazz can all be found in jazz classes. Jazz students must study ballet as well.

Concentrates with expressing a dancer's emotions. This style of dance uses technical elements of ballet, jazz, and modern.

A form of street dance and commercial jazz dance. Classes emphasize co-ordination, creativity and rhythm in an atmosphere of "moving to the beat".
