        Maxine Patterson School of Dance celebrates its 50th year in dance. 

Dance classes are offered  in

Creative Movement, ballet, pre-pointe/pointe, tap, 

jazz, lyrical, contemporary, and hip hop. 


Classes are also offered at Pooler Recreation Center.

KEITH "HAPPY FEET" PRATER

Keith “HappyFeet” Prater is a Dancer and Choreographer from Pasadena, CA where he received his formal training in Tap, Hip-Hop, Horton and Graham Modern techniques, Jazz, Contemporary, African, and Classical Ballet at Sue B. Dance Company, founded by Eugene “Pineapple” Jackson. While at Sue B., Keith met and trained under Tap Master Chester Whitmore. Keith studied Dance at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, OK., and holds a Certification in Dance from the International Dance Academy Hollywood (IDA Hollywood.)

From there Keith went on to study under names such as Chloe and Maud Arnold, Jason Janas, Derick Grant, Sarah Reich, and Greg Russell. He has won several choreography awards and has enjoyed teaching dance for the past nine years.  Some of Keith’s credits include working with Dawn Richard, Cedric The Entertainer, the “Syncopated Ladies,” Tulsa Opera, Theatre Tulsa, and Brian Nhira from Season 10 of NBC’s “The Voice.”

  CHRISTIAN COOPER

Christian Cooper is a self-taught hip hop dancer from Norfolk, Virginia who has been raised in Savannah, GA for most of his teenage years.  

Church being the foundation of where Christian’s passion for dance began to flourish as a dancer and choreographer it was only the beginning. He made the decision to turn his passion for dance into a career in 2014, and became a visual and performing arts major with a concentration in dance at SSU. 

Since then Christian has choreographed for collegiate and professional dance teams, been awarded many scholarships and awards,teaches at 4 studios here in Savannah and travels all round the low country teaching as well. Christian titles his choreography as "FEEL'ography" encouraging his students to release their inhibitions and perform from the heart, allowing themselves to be one with the music.

SUSAN McGRAW

Susan McGraw, a Georgia native, attended Brenau University where she received a BA in Dance Pedagogy and Performance (with Honors). Following graduation Susan was a founding member of the Gainesville Ballet’s Professional Ensemble where she was not just a principle dancer but, she also taught extensively within the school and served as the Director of the Junior Company. During this time she directed the Brenau Academy Dance department and trained undergraduate students in pedagogy. Susan then joined the Ruth Mitchell Dance Theatre where she performed as a Principle dancer and taught extensively within the ballet school and company. During this period Susan worked as a guest artist with many regional companies, held a teaching position in the University of Georgia dance department and worked at numerous summer dance intensives.

Susan has taught and choreographed for many well know programs. She has been on faculty at The Atlanta Ballet Centre for Dance Education, Ballet Mistress for Duluth School of Ballet, Perimeter Ballet Company, Gainesville Ballet Company, Sawnee Ballet Theatre Company, Royal Dance Academy Beta Program, Dancentre South and The Atlanta Professional Dance Academy and also loves to teach every other age and level within the schools. She has been a guest teacher and audition judge for numerous schools and programs including The Governor’s Honors Program, Metropolitan Ballet Theatre, and En Pointe School of Ballet.

LAZAR WOMBLE
contemporary - jazz - lyrical - technique

Lazar Womble is a graduate of Savannah College of Art and Design with a Bachelor of Art in Fashion Education. He was principle dancer of Denver Ballet and Atlanta Ballet in roles in The Nutcracker, Don Q, and Copellia as well as principle dancer for Disney Cruise Line in Orlando. He has danced in musical performances featuring Mariah Carey and Britney Spears.

 Lazar teaches and choreographs at various studios in the Southeast and is also a judge for Inspire Dance Competition.
